The Vintage Home | Lauren McGrath's First Apartment in the City

What a fantastic first apartment! Lots of bright white throughout punched up with slate blue, poppy pinks, and sunny yellow. I love that her apartment is traditional (with (an antique table turned into a vanity, the striped love seat that is very reminiscent of a Jane Austen novel...) mixed with a trifle of contemporary touches (the lucite bench at the vanity, the IKEA shelf, the leaf print curtains).

Le look du jour!

We would wear this ensemble in a heartbeat! A camel cape coat with a black and white striped shirt and crisp black trousers finished with a classic logo Louis Vuitton and whiskey brown loafers... the entire look is perfection from head to toe!

Style Icon: Clara Bow

"I feel much older than that. I feel as though I had lived a long, long time. That is because I have suffered so much, and suffering makes you feel old inside, just as happiness makes you feel young even when your hair is white." - Clara Bow (age 22) - February 1928

Are her outfits not amazing? I would wear every single ensemble in these photos! I love all the collars most especially! And the bow details, the lace, the pretty grid design on that one dress... I adore the fit of the clothes as well, form fitting in all the right places, loose and romantic in the other.

For a lovely article on Clara Bow, read "My Life Story" as told to Adela Rogers St. Johns for PHOTOPLAY Magazine in 1928.

Vintage Fashion Trends From the Past : Loose Layers, Menswear for Women, & Socks With Heels

Everything old is new again! This saying leads me to believe that vintage clothing will never go out of fashion because fashion itself will never go out of fashion, and let's be honest with ourselves, there are very few trends out there that are completely organic. Everything is borrowed, reworked, and reinvented to fit modern trends and fads.
