Runway Report | Vintage Inspired Fashion - Alexander Berardi Spring 2011

I love the tiny floral prints from Alexander Berardi's Spring 2011 collection which reminds me so much of vintage Cacharel and even Liberty of London (but much more muted). The styles are very reminscent of the mid to late 1970s when fluttery shoulders and butterfly sleeves were very popular. Aren't the dresses so very David Hamilton as well?

Vintage Inspired Clothing Brands | Thom.Dolan Spring 2011

I adore that preppy, beachy, and 1950s sensibilities are all blended together for Thom.Dolan's lastest Spring 2011 collection.

The Katherine dress is probably my favorite, it's so reminiscent of a vintage 1950s day dress. I could see wearing this dress for so many occasions, from casual to semi-formal.

While I love cotton shorts, these blue "blouson" short shorts only look flattering if you have model proportions. I wish designers would stop creating shorts and skirts that look like you're wearing diapers. It's just not attractive on 99.9% of the female population.

Vintage 1950s Inspired Fashion

There were so many 1950s inspired fashion editorials shot last year (as well as many inspired by the 60s and 70s). I'm hoping 2011 is the year of the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Actually... maybe even earlier than that! I'd love to see trends from the 18th century come back, in small doses... (wearing 3 ft plumes a la Georgiana Spencer perhaps?)

I love the vintage 1950s inspired hats in this editorial and the full circle skirts. There are similar style vintage hats available at Adorevintage.

Wardrobe Styling: Raina Hein by Sade Williams

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to style Raina Hein (mostly known for being runner up on America's Next Top Model Cycle 14) for a test shoot with the talented Sade Williams.

Raina Hein by Sade Williams

It was a fun easy shoot in L.A. in easy urban clothes. As a wardrobe stylist I'm always challenged to not dress everyone in pretty vintage dresses and add cardigans and little hats to every ensemble... ^_^ so I was quite pleased with the beautiful images that were captured without it getting too girlie as I can very easily lean to.

Raina is one of the sweetest girls I've met, she's just like how she appeared on the show (which I asked many questions about... "what's Tyra really like?") I actually got to style Raina twice, those photos I'll post up once I receive more of them! I hope you enjoyed the photos!

You can view more of my styling work on my online portfolio www.rodellee.com but it's still under construction...

P.S. - If you feel like being jealous, Raina is wearing ONLY mascara in these photos. What a lucky gal!!! She says she gets her luminous skin from years of living in wintry cold Minnesota and washing her face and scalding hot water!

Vintage Fashion Styling: Paisley Mccollom by Caitlin Bellah

A few weeks ago I was asked to style a vintage fashion editorial with the wonderful Caitlin Bellah and Paisley McCollom from FORD. We shot close to a family pumpkin patch and farmer's market which resulted in some troubles for us as we were "guerrilla style" shooting (when you don't get permit) and got kicked out. (Oops!) But luckily we were able to get most of our shots in!

I had such fun at the shoot! Paisley is currently one of the Forever21 models and told me a bit about what it was like working for them, she also shared how surreal it was to see giant posters of her face at Target when she had a campaign with them. I'm always a bit fascinated by stories like these, but mostly fascinated that when you meet these models in person, they're so normal and approachable, not at all like their glossy alter egos.

If you're wondering why the vintage clothes look familiar... it's because most of the wardrobe is from my Adorevintage!

Vintage Inspired Fashion Editorial: AnOther Magazine F/W 2010 | Lindsey Wixson by Venetia Scott

Lindsey Wixon for An0ther Magazine Lindsey Wixon for An0ther Magazine

So in love with the 1970s vibe of this vintage inspired fashion editorial photographed by Venetia Scott for An0ther Magazine. The hair is very reminscent of Charlie's Angels, don't you think? Even the setting has that mid 70s vibe. The clothes are so easy and casual and definitely ensembles you can recreate through vintage clothing!

Fashion + Travel: Fantasy Wardrobe for a Charming Weekend

While I love seeing family for the Holidays, sometimes I wish my dearest and I could whisk ourselves away for a romantic holiday week in far off locales. But, seeing as how ticket prices always skyrocket during the holidays, we may just settle for a lovely weekend at a B&B in Carmel (which is one of the most charming towns I've come across in California so far)

"Blooming Garden" Vintage Inspired Fashion Editorial | Vogue Korea August 2010

Blooming_Garden_01

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I found this gorgeous editorial from Vogue Korea to be quite fitting for the current weather and the season. I absolutely love the wardrobe from this shoot, the long plaid skirt paired with fitted knit turtleneck and fur collar, oh goodness! Doesn't this editorial just evoke all the wonderfulness that is Autumn?
