Style Icon: Brigitte Bardot

"I have been very happy, very rich, very beautiful, much adulated, very famous and very unhappy." - Brigitte Bardot

Fashion influence: In fashion the Bardot neckline (a wide open neck that exposes both shoulders) is named after her. Bardot popularized this style which is especially used for knitted sweaters or jumpers although it is also used for other tops and dresses.

The details on these blouses (two are vintage, one is "modern" vintage - i.e. vintage inspired) are so feminine and sweet. From pale periwinkle polka dots, to sheer floral lace detailed sleeves, to the very faint blushing pink grid pattern... so much loveliness!

The Lives They Lead | A Collection of Vintage Photographs Depicting the Memorable Moments of the Past

AH-55 A good read Family Mulberry and Prince Streets, Manhattan Opening of the Mangare Airport My mom and my aunt visiting Huntington Gardens in Los Angeles. 1956 Two desperadoes hole up in the Badlands 'Oh dear! Cricket is so boring' The Capital: DC 1961

Each photo has been selected to share because there is a detail that I particularly fell in love with that was worth noting. For example, in the last photo notice the entire family is wearing "Red, White, & Blue"? And in the photo with the two women in pastel dressese visiting the Huntington Gardens in Los Angeles they have wicker basket purses with flower motifs. It's true, a photograph really is worth a thousand words.

Obsession Du Jour: Dotted Blouses, Lace Tanks, & Phillip Lim Trousers

It may not come to a surprise that we love neutrals which is quite apparent in the non vintage clothing we wish our little hearts out for including these elastic waisted 3.1 Phillip Lim trousers, Poly/Cotton too and at nearly $700 JEEZ.

On a side note, we're currently intrigued by specimen displays, particularly those of plant life and sea life. After a visit to our favorite antique shop in Santa Monica, we noticed a pluthera of glass domes with honeycombs, corals, starfish, ferns, moss... similar to terrariums, but with non-living items inside.

Wildflowers are a huge inspiration for us right now too... hmm...

Vintage Tunes | Rosemary Clooney "Mambo Italiano"

We dare you to watch this without singing along or smiling. Wasn't Rosemary Clooney such a doll? We love her twirly dress too.

HEY MAMBO!

Daily Inspirations: Pastoral Dreams & Rural Ideals

I have a very idealistic picture in my mind of rural life. Maybe my feelings are like that of Marie Antoinette... she went so far as to have a make believe rustic village made for her, the Hameau de la Reine.
